The M2, a twin-engine jet seating up to six passengers, exited the company's manufacturing facility in Independence, Kan., and is scheduled to begin deliveries later this year. Cessna classifies it as a "versatile aircraft," with a range of 1,300 nautical miles.

Earlier this week the new Citation X, a revamped version of the original with upgraded avionics and engines, completed a three-hour flight with an average cruise speed of Mach 0.915 (604 mph) at 41,000 feet. Cessna first announced the upgraded X in the fall of 2010, and expects to begin deliveries of the mid-size business jet next year.
