Chief Test Pilot, Honeywell Flight Test Operations
Jary Engels has lead the development and flight test of Honeywell products and integrated systems for the past 32 years. He has played an active design role in the transformation of the flight deck from electromechanical indicators and navaid-based flight, to large format display systems, integrated flight management systems, graphical flight planning, and performance-based navigation. Jary holds a number of related patents.
Jary has been an integral part of the development and flight testing of the Honeywell SmartView synthetic vision system, starting with the prototype on Honeywell’s flight test aircraft and progressing to development and certification on the Gulfstream Planeview system. Jary is continuing work on the development of future synthetic vision capabilities to support operational benefits.
Jary holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska, and Airline Transport Pilot rating and is type rated in multiple aircraft including the Citation 500, 650, 680, 750, Hawker 800, Sabre 65 and the Gulfstream 450/550.
