Barry Allen

Co-chairman, SAE G18 Technical Committee for RFID in Aerospace

Barry Allen is a Professional Engineer registered in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. He has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. in International Business.

Mr. Allen has held several senor management and executive positions in research, design, manufacturing, purchasing and project management during a 20-year-plus career in the Consumer Electronics, Aerospace and RFID industries.

For the most recent 10 years, he has served as a senior executive and engineer with Identec Solutions Inc., of Dallas, Texas, where he has enjoyed significant hands-on involvement with many of the most successful large deployments of Active RFID in the Americas, Europe and Australia.

Prior to Identec, he spent 12 years contributing as a manager and designer in the delivery of large aerospace projects, including satellite command and control, satellite communications, deep space communications infrastructure, radar systems, space shuttle and space station initiatives, aircraft automated landing systems, and air-traffic control infrastructure.

Mr. Allen holds several of the patents that form the foundation of what is known generally as “Active RFID.” He is currently serving as a co-chairman of the SAE G18 Technical Committee for RFID in Aerospace.
