VxWorks Powers Advanced Threat Display

Wind River, Alameda, Calif., said its VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) was selected by Terma A/S, of Aarhus, Denmark, as the foundation for an Advanced Threat Display (ATD) for jets, helicopters and transport aircraft.

The ATD is a dedicated, 3ATI self-protection display providing a real-time correlated threat environment picture to the pilot. The product family now has two configurations: a 4x3-inch bezel for general applications and a 6x3-inch bezel developed for the F-16.

The display will use VxWorks running on a variety of embedded processors. Terma also has standardized on the Wind River Workbench tool suite for VxWorks, Wind River said.
