Universal Avionics Names New COO

Universal Avionics, based in Tucson, Ariz., made several management moves, including the appointment of a new chief operating officer (COO). Paul DeHerrera, who was most recently vice president of marketing and product support, takes over as COO. He will oversee manufacturing, marketing and engineering support in Tucson, as well as Engineering Research and Development activities in Redmond, Wash., and Duluth, Ga., and support activities in Wichita, Kan., and Basel, Switzerland. DeHerrera, who joined the company in 1994, is a FAA licensed Pilot and holds an Airframe and Power Plant License. Don Berlin, who was the most recent COO, was named senior corporate vice president. “As Universal Avionics moves forward, the company is undertaking a number of key initiatives designed to increase sales, quicken the pace of growth and generate increased market awareness,” Berlin said. “We plan to remain on the cutting edge of technology by extending Universal’s business development through alliances, strategic partners and joint product development.” Daniel Reida is the new vice president of marketing. Reida began his career at Universal Avionics in 1989 and most recently served in the position of worldwide marketing director. A 29-year veteran of the industry, Reida is knowledgeable in the technical and commercial aspects of the business.
