The U.S. Army exercised an option to acquire additional RQ-11B Raven small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from AeroVironment, of Monrovia, Calif., for $41.7 million.
The Raven system is a 4.2-pound, backpackable, hand-launched sensor platform that provides day and night, real-time video imagery for “over the hill” and “around the corner” reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition. Each Raven system consists of three aircraft, two ground control stations and spares.
The award was released under the existing U.S. Army joint small UAS program of record for the Raven system and will provide systems, spares and services for the Army and Marine Corps.
