Two Sky Warrior Block 0 unmanned aircraft systems are operational in Iraq, supporting U.S. Army ground forces, according to manufacturer General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The aircraft have been deployed more than a year in advance of the Systems Development and Demonstration requirements of the Army’s Extended Range/Multi-Purpose UAS Program, the company said June 12. Sky Warrior will provide all-weather persistent intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance. Seventeen Sky Warrior Block 1 UAS will be produced in the SDD phase.
