Singapore Airlines to Use Rockwell Collins Satcom

Singapore Airlines will use Rockwell Collins’ SAT-2100 satellite communication system with a single HST-2110 high-speed data transceiver for 58 Boeing 777 aircraft, the companies said Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under the terms of the agreement, Rockwell Collins will replace Singapore Airlines' existing SATCOM system with its latest high speed data offering. In addition to the retrofit program, Singapore Airlines is using the same system on forward fit Boeing 777. Rockwell Collins said one of the primary uses of the SAT-2100 is to facilitate high-speed data services to Singapore Airlines' new Electronic Flight Bag System. Rockwell Collins said its SAT-2100 system provides multi-channel voice and data capabilities within a single 8 MCU package. When coupled with an HST 2110 high-speed terminal, the SAT-2100 system enables Inmarsat's Swift64 or SwiftBroadband service for broadband connectivity. The SAT-2100 has been certified on the Boeing 777 and 747-400, and has been selected for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
