Singapore Air Traffic ‘Future-proofed’

[Avionics Today February 10, 2014] Singapore has inaugurated its new Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility, Singapore Air Traffic Control Center (SATCC), which uses a new air traffic system from Thales, LORADS III.

"As a major hub, Singapore is now future-proofed to meet the high growth in civil transport that is expected. This is a milestone for Thales in Asia," said Jean-Bernard Levy, chairman and CEO of Thales.

Thales calls LORADS III the "most sophisticated ATC system in the world," which will allow the country to manage projected air traffic growth in the region. LORADS III is based on the Thales TopSky ATC system, which features a unified air situation display, calculation of 4D trajectories of aircraft and Data-link communications among other next generation tools.

The system has also been deployed nationwide in Taiwan and within the Australian Advanced Air Traffic System (TAAATS).
