Sensis to Deploy Multilateration in Montreal

Nav Canada announced plans to deploy a multilateration system for surface surveillance from Sensis, Syracuse, N.Y., Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. The contract also calls for the airport to use Sensis VeeLo NextGen vehicle locators for tracking airport vehicles in the maneuvering area. The Sensis multilateration system, called Sensis Multistatic Dependent Surveillance (MDS), uses multiple non-rotating sensors to triangulate aircraft location based on transponder signals and gives air traffic controllers aircraft position and identification information. Also, each MDS sensor supports Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B). The VeeLo vehicle locator is a Mode S-based vehicle locator that features a WAAS-enabled GPS receiver and broadcasts its position and identity using the Mode S Extended Squitter ADS-B message format,  Sensis said.
