Saab Wins Avionics Contract

Sweden-based Saab Avitronics said it won a 10 million Euro contract to develop, produce and support a Terrain Masking Low Level Flight Computer for the German military’s A400M transport aircraft. Saab Avitronics, which is part of the Saab Group, said the contract could be worth more than 10 Million Euro ($13 million) depending on the aircraft sales. Saab said the Terrain Masking Low Level Flight Computer, based on the latest processor technology, enables safe tactical flights on very low altitude. “We now further strengthen our position as a competitive supplier on the avionics market,” says Björn Erman, president of Saab Avitronics. The development and production of the system will be carried out at Saab Avitronics in Jönköping, Sweden, and will be supplied to EADS Military Air Systems, Germany, that develops the system application software.
