[Avionics Today 09-29-2015] Rockwell Collins’ Paves on-demand In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system is now offered for the Boeing 737 MAX. Rockwell Collins has also received a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) with FAA validation for its Paves Wireless media distribution system for Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
With the Paves on-demand seat-centric design, each in-seat system is independent. So, if one unit has an issue, no other in-seat systems are affected. Additionally, Paves On-demand is equipped with a quick-release mechanism to rapidly remove and replace in-seat displays.
Paves Wireless delivers advanced capabilities for airlines, including the ability to stream video content to more than 250 passengers simultaneously, and a flexible, open-software architecture to support a wide array of apps and services. This system will be installed on 85 new Airbus
“Airline passengers are increasingly expecting to have content available throughout their journeys, which presents significant opportunities for airlines to uniquely connect with their customers,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager of information systems at Rockwell Collins. “Having a high-performing media distribution solution for the entire aircraft is a must as this becomes reality
