Northrop Grumman Wins Prowler Contract

Northrop Grumman won a $6.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to upgrade three additional fleet EA-6B Prowlers with the latest electronic attack system. The contract covers installation of Improved Capability (ICAP) III kits, which include the ALQ-218 receiver, a new crew-workstation display system and other hardware and software items. Once the four ICAP III kits are installed, there will be 15 operational ICAP III Prowlers in service with the Navy. ICAP III also is the basis of the electronic attack system Northrop Grumman is building for the EA-18G Growler, which eventually will replace the Navy's Prowlers, and for future airborne electronic attack systems. The contract includes an option to upgrade a fourth aircraft for an additional $2 million. First delivery is April 2008. The installation will occur at Northrop Grumman’s St. Augustine, Fla., manufacturing center.
