Modernized Boeing 757 Flight Deck Receives STC

[Avionics Today July 7, 2014] The FAA has issued an initial Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for a new flight deck designed by Rockwell Collins as a modernized retrofit for Boeing 757s and 767s.

Inspired by the flight deck design that comes standard on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the 757/767 upgrade features three large-format LCD displays and a 150-pound weight reduction over the legacy architecture.  Rockwell Collins is also making its Head-up Guidance System (HGS) available as an aftermarket for the Boeing 757/767.

"There are hundreds of Boeing 757s and 767s flying today that have a lot of life left in the airframe and new airspace mandates are driving changes in the flight deck that demand displays with greater viewing area, along with additional throughput and memory,” said Steve Timm, vice president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins.
