L-3 Ships Miniature Data Link
L-3 Communications reported the first customer shipment of its smallest Common Data Link (CDL) terminal. The Mini CDL 200, a 1.4-pound terminal, is a 45 Mbps transceiver with integrated MPEG2 and H.264 video codecs and NSA Type 1 encryption.
Flight tests validating Mini CDL 200 performance and witnessed by the U.S. Air Force used production hardware flying on a 105-pound BAI Viking UAS, meeting the upcoming U.S. Navy and Marine Corps., Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (STUAS) Tier II program communication distance requirements and proving Technology Readiness Level (TRL 7) status, L-3 said.
