Kazak Airport to Install Thales Navigation Aids

Thales won a contract from Kazakhstan’s Air Navigation Service Provider, RSE Kazaeronavigatsia, to provide its STREAMS Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) and navigation aids for Almaty Airport. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The navigation aids to be installed include two ILS 420 (Instrument Landing Systems) with the DME 415 (Distance Measuring System) and one DVOR 432 (Doppler VHF Omnirange). Thales said these systems will provide air traffic controllers with enhanced visibility on the runways, taxiways and apron areas for increased aircraft movement and safety. An X-Band radar provided by Terma of Denmark is connected to the Thales display and processing system. The system includes ten Thales Mosquito vehicle localization systems including two ADS-B AS 680 ground stations, which is the basic building block of the continent-wide ADS-B system deployed by Thales in Australia.
