Indra To Support Spanish Radar, Avionics
Indra Sistemas S.A. was awarded a four-year, $76 million contract from Spain’s Ministry of Defence “to guarantee maximum performance and efficacy” of the country’s early warning and surveillance system, supporting the Spanish Air Force. Indra also will support deployed avionics systems, including radar, communications and navigation systems, and collaborate in engineering, maintenance and calibration of equipment at Air Force laboratories.
To support airspace surveillance, Indra will maintain radar stations distributed across Spain as well as data processing systems and the associated command and control system.
The company, based in Madrid, said nearly 200 professionals will engage in the technological consultancy.
“The support services will be carried out in the Air Force's facilities to guarantee a prompt response, maximum availability and operational capacity of the equipment,” the company stated. “ … Indra will watch out for components’ obsolescence. The company will guarantee stock availability or will implement the necessary changes to extent the equipment’s service life to avoid further expensive investments for this reason.”
