Honda Aircraft to Build Headquarters

Honda Aircraft is building a new headquarters, where it will manufacture its advanced light HondaJet, the company said. Honda Aircraft will establish its world headquarters in Greensboro, N.C., with the construction of a 215,000-square-foot headquarters. The HondaJet will be constructed at a facility adjacent to the new headquarters. Honda plans to begin delivery of HondaJet to customers in 2010. “For five years, Greensboro has served as the home of HondaJet, as we have worked to take our dream from the drawing board to the sky,” said Michimasa Fujino, president and CEO of Honda Aircraft. “As we move steadily toward certification, production and delivery to our customers, I am excited that Greensboro will be home both to our company's world headquarters and the production of HondaJet.” Initial investment for construction will be about $40 million, plus about $20 million for equipment, the company said. Construction is scheduled to be completed in November of this year. The new facilities will serve as the home for all HondaJet research, product engineering, sales, marketing, and service support, and will replace the company’s existing 32,000 square foot hangar and office complex. The decision to commercialize HondaJet was announced in July 2006, followed by the establishment of Honda Aircraft Company in August. The company has received more than 100 customer orders for the $3.65 million HondaJet since its launch in October 2006.
