Harris Participates in Networking Demo

Harris Corp., based in Melbourne, Fla., took part in a military flight demonstration in Australia, supplying a variety of networking, tactical communication and situational awareness systems. The laboratory demonstration, which streamed video over a simulated mobile ad hoc tactical network for Australia's Army, Navy and Defence establishment, included the transmission of recorded unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) video and meta data, along with real-time dismounted soldier digital and voice data, to a simulated Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter Mission Commander's station. Harris said its Adjunct Network Processor and Boeing-developed middleware and software applications provided real-time interface between the CH-47 and dismounted soldier user equipment. The Harris equipment included in the demonstration included the Adjunct Network Processor (ANP), SeaLancet tactical radio, Falcon III tactical radio, and FliteScene software digital map. The SeaLancet radio was the airborne network backbone, and the Harris ANP — a real-time processor that provides network connectivity for aircraft — hosted the Boeing-developed System of Systems Common Operating Environment (SOSCOE) and mission management applications.
