FAA to Upgrade Long-Range Radars

Raytheon has received a contract from FAA worth up to $185 million to manufacture, test and deploy up to 68 solid state transmitter systems. The transmitters will replace tube-based transmitters in long-range surveillance radars, which provide continuous surveillance of aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS). Initial work includes the delivery of four solid state transmitters and associated software and interfaces. The agreement is under FAA’s Long Range Radar Service Life Extension program. More
