Eclipe, Avidyne Part Ways

Following a series of certification delays, aircraft manufacturer Eclipse Aviation, Albuquerque, N.M., said it is parting ways with its avionics supplier, Avidyne. Avidyne, Lincoln, Mass., was supplying components for the Avio integrated avionics system on the Eclipse 500 light jet. Eclipse Aviation said it expects to announce new supplier and specific plans for Avio within the next two weeks, but said the announcement will have no impact on Eclipse 500 deliveries. Near-term customer aircraft will have the Avidyne components installed. “Eclipse Aviation and Avidyne have decided to terminate their relationship. Avidyne will no longer supply components for the Avio Total Aircraft Integration system in the Eclipse 500,” according to an Eclipse statement. “We have agreed it is in the mutual best interest of both companies, and our customers, to wind down our relationship and go our separate ways.” Eclipse said legal and contractual agreements prevented it from divulging details about the termination. “Avio will continue to be an integral part of the Eclipse 500, and we are confident in our ability to deliver all of the promised functionality to our customers on an aggressive schedule,” the company said. “We have partnered with an impressive new team of proven, reliable suppliers to deliver Avio functionality."
