DataLink Users Forum Planned

Gregg Anderson of FAA and Martin Adnams of Eurocontrol will provide updates of data communications efforts in the United States and Europe at the next meeting of the AEEC DataLink Users Forum, scheduled Jan. 29-31 in San Diego.

Adnams, representing Eurocontrol, has been pivotal in bringing Link 2000+ program objectives, direction, schedule and “Pioneer Airline” incentive program to the attention of qualified carriers. More recently, Anderson has been engaged in a dialogue with the airlines to clarify details of the DataComm implementation in the United States. Eurocontrol and the FAA have embarked on a path of cooperation that will harmonize North America and Europe.

The stated function of the AEEC DataLink Users Forum is to “provide an opportunity for coordination among airlines, civil aviation authorities, and air traffic service providers on the direction and schedule of new Air Traffic Service (ATS) datalink programs.”
