Dassault Falcon 50 to Use Universal Avionics

Universal Avionics Systems, Tucson, Ariz., was selected to provide WAAS/SBAS capability and flat panel glass displays for a Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft modification to be completed by Western Aircraft, Boise, Idaho. Universal Avionics in its announcement at this week's National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention said its package for the Falcon 50 will include dual UNS-1Fw WAAS/SBAS-FMSs, four EFI-890R Flat Panel Displays, Terrain and Awareness System (TAWS) and the Application Server Unit (ASU) for charts, checklists, EDOCs and WSI InFlight weather. Universal said the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) package was purchased from West Star Aviation. The STC will be amended to cover Universal’s WAAS/SBAS-FMSs, EFI-890Rs, TAWS and ASU; integrated with the APS-85 autopilot. The aircraft is scheduled for input in early 2009 with the modification to be completed in April.
