[Avionics Today 03-26-2015] China Eastern has selected a Head-up Guidance System (HGS) and Multi-Mode Receiver from Rockwell Collins for 20 Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft. Deliveries of the 737s to China Eastern will begin early next year.

The HGS will bring China Eastern's 737s into compliance with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) "China HUD Application Roadmap" which requires all capable in-service airline fleets to be equipped with Heads-up Display (HUD) systems by 2025. According to Rockwell Collins, there are currently 14 airports throughout China approved for lower landing minima by CAAC for aircraft equipped with authorized HUDs.
“Our HGS and MMR will deliver incredible value to China Eastern by enabling operations when there is inclement weather or inadequate ground-based precision navigation equipment,” said Jim Walker, vice president and managing director of international and service solutions for Asia Pacific at Rockwell Collins.
