CMC EFB Selected for Boeing ONAT

Esterline CMC Electronics CMA-1410 Class 2 PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) was selected by Boeing for its B747-8 Onboard Network Access Terminal (ONAT) system. The 10.4-inch device will be used as a display terminal in the B747-8 cockpit, enabling maintenance personnel and crew to access aircraft systems from one central location and relay data where required. The companies announced the selected at last week's Farnborough Airshow. For more Farnborough coverage

“The fact that Boeing will be using our Pilotview CMA-1410 in the B747-8 as a maintenance Network Access Terminal, as opposed to a Class 2 EFB, underscores the flexibility of our design. Given its ability to swiftly communicate with onboard aircraft systems, the CMA-1410 actually has more applications than just serving as an EFB. Ultimately, it offers more value to Boeing and its customers,” said Greg Yeldon, president of Esterline CMC Electronics.

Boeing has already chosen the PilotView CMA-1410 for its B737NGs and BBJs as a Class 2 EFB system, which is available on both production airplanes and for retrofit.
