Boeing Preparing JTRS Bid

Boeing said its team is preparing to submit a proposal for system design and development for the Department of Defense’s Airborne and Maritime/Fixed Station Joint Tactical Radio System (AMF JTRS). Boeing and its team, which includes Rockwell Collins, Harris, L-3 Communications, BBN Technologies, Northrop Grumman and Milcom Systems Corp., said it expects to respond to the request within 45 days.
Contract award is anticipated to occur by July. The team said it has supported the AMF JTRS pre-system design and development phase since 2004. Boeing said its AMF JTRS communications system will provide the military with software-defined radios with Internet-like capabilities, allowing them to communicate with one another in a network-centric environment in the air, on land and at sea. The system features secure battlespace networking, including the transmission and receipt of real-time text and voice information, as well as the ability to stream live audio and video, share maps, conduct networked meetings and use Voice Over Internet Protocol.
