Advanced TAWS Selected for New King Air

Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems (ACSS), the joint venture of L-3 Communications and Thales, said Hawker Beechcraft has selected its advanced terrain awareness warning system, TAWS +, for the latest, King Air C90GTi turboprop. ACSS’s TAWS+ and TAWS+performance are stand-alone, Class A Terrain Avoidance Warning Systems for passenger airplanes, jets and military aircraft. ACSS said more than 2,000 units have been sold or ordered as a stand-alone product or as part of the company’s T2CAS product, an integrated Traffic alert Collision Avoidance System and TAWS in a single line-replaceable unit. The C90GTi, designed to replace the current King Air C90GT, features an integrated Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite, and is poised to compete against Very Light Jets. “This upgrade creates the lowest priced, twin-turbine aircraft with mid-size jet avionics,” according to Hawker Beechcraft. Certification and deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter.
