ATR Making iPad EFB Software

European turboprop aircraft manufacturer ATR has developed Single-point Performance Software (SPS), a computation application for iPad Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) that allows pilots to compute their takeoff and landing parameters in real time and conditions.

ATR said the SPS was developed in an effort to meet the growing demand from airlines to use the iPad as an EFB. Currently SPS is available for ATR 500 and 600 operators, and will eventually become available for all ATR variants.

"In addition to this development, ATR is also looking to enable the installation of the iPad in the cockpit in “class II” mode. The installation, optional and also available in retrofit, will have a mounting arm and electric-power supply via USB," ATR said.
