Swiss Acquire Trainers

L-3 Communications said its Link Simulation and Training (L-3 Link) division received a $40.9 million contract from the Swiss government to build four networked F/A-18C Tactical Operational Flight Trainers (TOFTs) for the Swiss F/A-18 Flight Simulator Upgrade program.
L-3 said the system will enable Swiss F/A-18 pilots to perform combat training while operating as a tactical team. The networked F/A-18C TOFTs will be integrated with L-3 Link’s SimuView personal computer image generation system and SimuSphere 360 degree field-of-view visual display.
The F/A-18C TOFTs and related training system equipment are slated to begin delivery in late 2008 and will be ready for training in 2009. More
