Schipol Deploys Tracking System

Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam will deploy a vehicle-tracking system supplied by a subsidiary of Rannoch Corp. The airport said it selected the vehicle tracking segment of Rannoch subsidiary ERA’s Advanced Surface Movement and Guidance Control System (A-SMGCS). The ERA units operate with the existing ground surveillance application and any automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) and multilateration surveillance system. ERA’s squitter beacon units are equipped with smart Vehicle Location Transmitters, which transmit spontaneous Mode S reply, and a GPS receiver, which is used to track the vehicle location. Rannoch said the roll-out of the system follows several recent deployments of the ERA system in airports worldwide including Copenhagen, Prague, Santiago and Cape Town, South Africa. More
