Spirit Avionics, Columbus, Ohio, won a $1.2 million contract to upgrade avionics on two U.S. Air Force DeHaviland Dash 8 special mission aircraft. Spirit said the equipment to be installed is Honeywell’s CAS 67A Traffic-Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) II system and its Multi Function Radar Display, and L-3 Communications’ digital flight data recorder and associated flight data acquisition unit and solid state cockpit voice recorder. The project will begin in October in Panama City, Fla., at Tyndell Air Force Base. Spirit said the project will take about two months.
