FAA Installs Traffic Management System

FAA’s Traffic Flow Management System went operational in Atlantic City, N.J., June 18 to track, anticipate and manage the flow of air traffic throughout U.S. airspace, integrating real-time weather and flight data from multiple sources. The modernized system uses an open-architecture platform that increases development bandwidth and facilitates integration with other domains. The third and final phase of the modernization is expected by August 2009 when the remaining legacy hardware and software components are upgraded, FAA said.
