Elbit Subsidiary to Develop DIRCM System

Elbit Systems, of Israel, said the Israeli government, starting next year, will invest in the development of a passive Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) system to protect the country’s commercial aircraft fleet. Financial specifics of the investment were not disclosed. The MUSIC (Multi Spectral Infrared Countermeasure) system developed by Elbit is a lightweight (25 kilograms) system is designed to protect aircraft from ground-and-air missiles. The system is a product of Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Elop, an Elbit subsidiary.
