Northrop Awarded Guardrail Life Extension

Northrop Grumman was awarded a contract valued at up to $462 million to continue upgrading the U.S. Army’s RC-12 Guardrail targeting, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, extending its operational life beyond 2020.

The company also received the first two task orders under the contract, worth $25 million, to provide signals intelligence sensor upgrades.

The upgraded Guardrail (Beechcraft King Air) will provide advanced signals exploitation capability, enhanced signals intelligence processing, precision geo-location and improved situational awareness. The modernization also will provide a common baseline for hardware and software across the fleet.
