Orders Placed For Rockwell Collins HGS

Lynx Aviation and Nav Canada announced fleet installations of the Rockwell Collins Head-Up Guidance System (HGS) in separate deals announced this week. Lynx Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontier Holdings, will use the HGS-4100 on its fleet of Bombardier Q400 regional aircraft. Installation on the first aircraft is expected to be completed by July. Nav Canada, the private sector company that owns and operates the Air Navigation System in Canada, will use the HGS-2100 for Runway Instrument Landing System (ILS) and en route navigation checks. The company also expects to perform research flying for evaluation of developmental technologies through the course of its daily activities. "This (Nav Canada) contract is significant because it represents the first commercial application for the use of HGS for precision flying in a data collection mode," said John Desmond, vice president, Head-up Guidance Systems for Rockwell Collins.
