The EASA-approved radar features Cassidian's software defined sensor concept, with a modular architecture that allows for scalability of bandwidth, frequency band and processing performance.
According to Cassidian, the company has garnered considerable interest in the radar but does not yet have any firm commitments. Flight tests were conducted over sea and land, allowing the company to confirm the performance of the active electronically scanned array capability within different environments.
The EADS defense subsidiary expects the system to be adopted to a variety of mission aircraft.
