Sierra Nevada to Upgrade PC-12 ISR Suite

Woodrow Bellamy III

[Avionics Today April 29, 2014] The Sierra Nevada Corp. has selected the Curtiss-Wright Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Ethernet switch and router technology for its PC-12 aircraft.

According to Curtiss-Wright, the selection was finalized under the Afghan Flight Management System (FMS) Knight Ryder program. Under the new agreement, Curtiss-Wright will provide its Parvus DuraMAR 595 router and DuraNet 3000 switch product.

The router will be used to communicate intelligence sensor and video data internal to the aircraft, as well to ground-based forces and command and control centers.

“The selection of our SWaP-optimized rugged subsystems will help deliver standardized ISR hardware configuration and operating software aboard small, payload-limited aircraft such as the Pilatus PC-12," said Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager of the defense solutions division of Curtiss-Wright.
