Aircell Appointments

Aircell, based in Broomfield, Colo., promoted John Wade to executive vice president and general manager, Business Aviation Services. Wade, who joined Aircell in November 2008, has more than 20 years of experience in avionics and in-flight communications. Before joining Aircell, he was chief technical officer and general manager with OnAir. He has also held executive positions at Tenzing Communications, PRIMEX Aerospace Company and GEC Marconi In-Flight Systems.
Aircell also named Dave Salvador to its Business Aviation group as corporate sales manager. Salvador has more than 15 years of experience in the aviation industry. Most recently, he served as director, aviation sales and business development, at I.D. Systems. His previous professional experience includes positions at JA Air Center, Northstar Technologies, Trimble Navigation and Terra Avionics.

Roy Minson

AeroVironment (AV), of Monrovia, Calif., named Roy Minson vice president of business development and deputy general manager of its unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) segment. Prior to joining AV, Minson was vice president and operations manager for a research and development business within the Tactical Systems and Solutions division of SAIC. Before that, he was a senior executive at Boeing, where he led business segments supporting the Department of Defense, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and other agencies, and contributed to the development of several programs, including the Joint Tactical Radio System, Future Combat Systems, Combat Survival Evader Locater and classified programs.

Forrest Colliver

Sensis Corp., of Syracuse, N.Y., appointed Forrest Colliver director of Business Development, Air Traffic Systems (ATS). Colliver will be responsible for developing and executing the ATS domestic and international business strategies. Colliver has more than 20 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing and engineering in aerospace and high-tech companies. Most recently, he was vice president of marketing and business development for EMS Technologies’ Satcom division. Prior to EMS, Colliver was director of marketing and business development for Thales. He has also held business development, technical and engineering positions at Sofreavia, MITRE Corp., ExxonMobil and Texas Instruments.

STG Aerospace Appointments

STG Aerospace, of Swaffham, Norfolk, U.K., named David Zogheib, who has extensive sales experience in technology based sectors, to sales manager, based in Miami. Vickie Baldassarre was appointed sales and marketing assistant, supporting STG’s marketing and sales activity throughout the Americas.

Loïc Mahé

Thales named Loïc Mahé senior vice president, Human Resources and Communications. Mahé was most recently in charge of Human Resources and Communications for Thales Avionics and Thales Systèmes Aéroportés. Mahé has 30 years of experience in human resources.

Jerry Stromberg

Appareo Systems, based in Fargo, N.D., named Jerry Stromberg account executive on its marketing and sales team. Stromberg has 25 years of experience in the aerospace and software industry, including senior-level positions at Oracle Corp. and Hughes Aircraft Co. Appareo Systems, an accredited FAA Parts Manufacturing facility, develops and manufactures avionics systems for OEMs.

Vince Restivo

Hawker Beechcraft Corp. (HBC), of Wichita, Kan., appointed Vince Restivo vice president, Aircraft Completions and Interior Design. Restivo most recently was director of Completion Sales at Gulfstream.

Robert Clare

Universal Avionics, of Tucson, Ariz., reorganized its sales and marketing team, appointing Robert Clare, director of OEM Marketing, as director of North American Marketing. In this new role, he will manage sales and marketing of both the retrofit and OEM activity in the United States and Canada. Clare has been with Universal Avionics since 1992.

Tom Hendricks

The Air Transport Association of America named Capt. Tom Hendricks vice president of operations and safety. He was most recently director of line operations for Delta Air Lines.

Michael Barbalas

Goodrich Corp., of Charlotte, N.C., named Michael Barbalas as president of its China activities. Barbalas was most recently president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China. Before that, he was managing director for Andrew Telecommunications (China) Co. Ltd. in Suzhou, China.

S. Scott Smith

Iridium Communications, of McLean, Va., appointed S. Scott Smith executive vice president of Iridium NEXT, the company’s next generation satellite constellation program. Smith joins Iridium from DigitalGlobe, a commercial remote sensing satellite company, where he had served as chief operating officer since 2005. Before DigitalGlobae, he worked for Space Imaging Inc.
