David Joyce

David Joyce was appointed president and CEO of GE Aviation. He had been vice president of commercial engines for the company since 2003. Joyce, 51, succeeds Scott C. Donnelly, who has taken a job with Textron. In a previous role as general manager of the small commercial engine operation, Joyce (photo, right) led GE’s successful bid to power China’s ARJ21 regional jet. He also oversaw the certification program of the CF34-8 engine for the Bombardier CRJ900 and the Embraer E170/175 programs. Joyce joined GE in 1980 as a product engineer and spent 15 years in design and development of GE’s commercial and military engines. He also held positions in customer and product support.

Dottie Hall

Required Navigation Performance (RNP) provider Naverus, of Kent, Wash., named Dottie Hall chief marketing officer. Previously, Hall was vice president of marketing for Eclipse Aviation. Hall left Eclipse to start her own company, Dottie Hall Consulting, where she provided marketing counsel to companies including Naverus, Tesla Motors and Icon Aircraft.

Standard Aero Appointments

Standard Aero, Winnipeg, Canada, named Scott Taylor business aviation business development leader, based in Tempe, Ariz. Prior to joining Standard Aero, Taylor managed sales and marketing operations for Honeywell Aerospace and most recently was general manager, Business Regional Aviation Marketing for GE Aviation. The company also named Mike Turner manager of communications, based in Tempe. Turner will develop and manage the company’s internal communications, and will be responsible for media relations. Turner, who was most recently with Hawker Beechcraft, has also managed marketing and communications at Elliott Aviation.

Tim Budden

Esterline AVISTA, Platteville, Wis., named Tim Budden president. Budden (photo, right) replaces Jim Schneller, who is retiring after more than 20 years with the company. Budden has more than 20 years of avionics, medical device and government/military software development experience. During the last four years, he was vice president of engineering at Esterline AVISTA. Budden joined the company in 1990 as a programs manager, after working with McDonnell Douglas.

Thales U.K. Appointments

Thales U.K. named Mark Barclay vice president and managing director of Thales’ aerospace business in the United Kingdom. He was most recently vice president of operations for Thales U.K. Before that, he was managing director of Thales’ Aerospace Services Worldwide business based in Toulouse, France. The company also named Shaun Jones vice president of operations at Thales U.K. Jones has 25 years of experience working in the aerospace and defense sector at organizations, including Airbus and BAE Systems. Jones was most recently operations director for Thales U.K.’s aerospace business. Thales U.K. also named Phil Naybour vice president of its Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft program. Naybour has more than 10 years of experience in management, including as vice president of Thales’ global helicopter solutions Business Line.

Tom Captain

Deloitte Consulting LLP named Tom Captain vice chairman and global and United States leader of the company’s Aerospace and Defense industry group. The Aerospace and Defense group provides audit, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to commercial aerospace, military aircraft, defense electronics, missile defense, land and naval platforms and space companies, along with their suppliers, investors and customers.

Mark Dankberg

ViaSat Chairman and CEO Mark Dankberg received the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aerospace International Communications Award for 2008, which recognizes outstanding contributions in aerospace communications. Dankberg is a co-founder of ViaSat and has served as chairman and CEO since its inception. ViaSat, Carlsbad, Calif., produces satellite and other digital communications products.

Forrest Colliver

EMS Satcom, Ottawa, Canada, named Forrest Colliver vice president of business development. Colliver most recently was director of business development, commercial aircraft solutions at Thales Aerospace. Before that, he was director of product strategy at Thales, responsible for directing the strategy for in-flight entertainment, cabin information systems and in-flight communications systems. Early in his career, Colliver worked on ARINC 741 and other standards while at The MITRE Corp.

David Rokos

Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, named David Rokos vice president and treasurer. Rokos has held various positions with Rockwell Collins since 2000. He most recently served as controller of Surface Solutions within the company’s Government Systems division. Prior to joining Rockwell Collins, Rokos was director of financial reporting at Rockwell International.

Bill Schillhammer

Avidyne, Lincoln, Mass., named Bill Schillhammer director of international sales. Schillhammer joined Avidyne in 2005. Prior to joining the company, Schillhammer held positions in high-technology display, semiconductor and product sales for more than a decade.
