[Avionics Today 04-04-2016] GoAir will install Honeywell Aerospace’s 131-9A Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for the Indian airline’s fleet of 72 A320neo airplanes. Honeywell will also provide GoAir with its fifth-generation Flight Data Recorders (FDRs) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVRs), which feature memory capabilities for data logging and tracking.

A maintenance program featuring a Predictive Trend Monitoring and Diagnostics (PDMT) service, which looks to reduce costs and unscheduled maintenance, will support GoAir’s Honeywell’s 131-9A APU, which provides compressed air to start the main engine and power the Environmental Control System (ECS). The APU and FDRs are already in place on the company’s A320 aircraft. The APUs aim to help reduce flight delays and cancellations by upping operability over previous systems. Honeywell also claims the APU can lower emissions and fuel use as it operates with 3.3 percent less fuel than previous systems.
