British Airways Selects Honeywell’s NextGen System for 747s

British Airways has selected Honeywell’s Next Generation flight management system to boost navigation database capacity for its fleet of Boeing 747s.

Honeywell said its NextGen system reduces the need for step climbing approaches at airports and provides reduced fuel burn and aircraft emissions. The British carrier has implemented several Honeywell safety systems across its 777 and A320 fleets since 2010, including the IntuVue 3-D weather radar and SmartRunway systems.

“We continue to invest in the latest onboard technology to further improve our customers’ flying experience. Honeywell’s avionics help us to do this by equipping our aircraft with the latest technology designed to maintain high levels of safety, efficiency and flexible route-planning,” said Tim Price, manager of regulatory affairs at British Airways.
