Joseph B. Smith

Alto Aviation, Leominster, Mass., named Joseph B. Smith senior quality manager. Smith has more than 25 years experience in manufacturing, wire harness cable, electromechanical devices and sub assemblies. Alto Aviation manufactures aircraft cabin audio systems. Most recently, Smith was with the Temp Flex Cable Co. He attended numerous avionics courses while serving with the United States Navy in Jacksonville, Fla., from 1972 to 1975.

Walter Hogle Jr.

Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, named Walter "Woody" S. Hogle Jr., senior vice president of International Business and Washington Operations. In his new role, Hogle will be responsible for developing strategic and tactical business objectives; developing governmental, regulatory, legislative and industrial affairs strategies; and maintaining working relationships with government officials. Previously, Hogle was vice president and general manager of Integrated Systems for Rockwell Collins Government Systems, where he was responsible for program execution, business development and market strategy for integrated aircraft and ground vehicle systems. Before joining Rockwell Collins, Hogle was senior vice president, Air Force and FAA Services, at ACS Defense. Before that, he worked for L-3 Communications Integrated Systems.

David Zeigler

Spectralux, Redmond, Wash., named David Zeigler datalink sales manager for the company’s ACARS system, "Dlink+." Zeigler has 15 years of business development experience in the aviation industry, in addition to 10 years as a business owner. Before joining Spectralux, Zeigler was a consultant for Spectralux and assisted the company with the launch of its "NexNav" GPS WAAS Beta-3 Receiver.

Don Antonucci

Don Antonucci, former president of the Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions business, was elected chairman of the board of Era Corp., Reston, Va., a provider of surveillance and flight-tracking solutions. Antonucci, who joined Era’s board in 2006, has more than 35 years of industry experience. He joined Lockheed Martin in 1996 with its acquisition of Loral, and was named executive vice president responsible for engineering, operations and programs of the Air Traffic Management business. Antonucci was named president of the business in 1998. In 2003, he was named president of the newly formed Transportation and Security Solutions business. He retired in 2006.

Darrell Northern

Darrell Northern was named general manager at Landmark Aviation’s Dallas facility. Northern came to Landmark Aviation, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., from Jet Direct FBO in Dallas, where he was general manager. He has more than 35 years in aviation management and has held sales and customer service positions with Braniff International, Dalfort Aviation, AMR Combs and Signature Flight Support.

Eugene Gray

Shadin Avionics, St. Louis Park, Minn., named Eugene Gray director of business development and marketing. Gray has more than 25 years of business development experience in the OEM and defense markets. Most recently, he worked for Silicon Graphics, Inc., as director of business development. Before that, he was business development director for IBM Federal Systems, U.S. Aerospace and Federal Programs, and regional sales director for Digital Equipment Corp.

Norm Matheis

Universal Avionics Systems Corp., Tucson, Ariz., named Norm Matheis regional marketing manager for Canada. Matheis, who was with Field Aviation for 19 years, holds an Avionics Maintenance Specialist diploma from Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology in Scarborough Ontario, and a Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer "E" license.

Michael Bissonette

AeroVironment, Monrovia, Calif., promoted Michael Bissonette to vice president and general manager of its Energy Technology Center. Before joining AeroVironment, he was senior director of new product introduction program management for Western Digital Corp., where he worked for 11 years. AeroVironment’s Energy Technology Center focuses on the development of efficient energy technologies. It has developed the Advanced Battery Charger sold with the company’s small UAS, and the propulsion system developed for its Global Observer stratospheric persistent UAS, which is under development.

Scott Winship

Northrop Grumman named Scott Winship vice president and program manager for the U.S. Navy Unmanned Combat Air System. Winship has more than 20 years of aerospace experience. He joined Northrop Grumman in 2002 as the RQ-8A Fire Scout program manager. Prior that, he worked on a series of programs at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works.

Cari Herman

Shadin Avionics, St. Louis Park, Minn., named Cari Herman software engineering manager. Herman will oversee and manage the Software Engineering Group and is tasked with refining software development processes; ensuring development schedules are maintained, enhancing execution/visibility, and bringing new software tools and capabilities to the company. Most recently, Herman was with Medtronic as product development manager. She previously worked for Goodrich Sensor Systems and Northrop Grumman.
