WAEA: New Officials

The World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) has elected Sue Luxem as president for a one-year term. Luxem is product manager, in-flight media, for American Airlines. Other new WAEA officials have been named: Mary Rogozinski, manager of onboard systems planning, United Airlines, is WAEA vice president; Sue Pinfold, senior manager, entertainment, Spafax, is WAEA secretary; and Sylvia Arndt, chief executive officer, Inflight Productions USA Inc., is WAEA treasurer. The WAEA board also includes newly elected representatives: Pablo Astudillo, IFE programming manager, Lan Chile Airlines; Joan Filippini, head of non-theatrical distribution, DreamWorks SKG; and Theresa Torlai, product marketing manager-IFE/cabin systems, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. Thales Computers: Almeida, Support Manager

Jose Almeida recently joined Thales Computers to become pre-sales support manager for the company’s three export regions: Asia, the Pacific Rim and northeast Europe. He is based in Jouy-en-Josas, France, near Paris. Almeida formerly held a technical support position with LynuxWorks and designed VME boards for Themis Computers. Thales Computers, based in Raleigh, N.C., produces PowerPC and Pentium-based VME computing products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and systems integrators. Inmarsat Ltd.: Tudge, Marketing Manager

Inmarsat Ltd. has named Simon Tudge marketing manager-aeronautical business in the company’s Portfolio Development and Marketing Division. He will be responsible for marketing Inmarsat solutions that provide telephony, e-mail, Internet and operational data communications on board aircraft. Prior to joining Inmarsat in 2001, Tudge was assistant director-information products at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Condor Engineering: Wild, Regional Sales Mngr.

Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Condor Engineering has appointed Harry Wild as regional sales manager, providing technical sales support in the northeastern United States. He comes to Condor from another supplier of data bus products, SBS Technologies. Wild also was director of engineering at L-3 Communications/Aydin Vector. Crane Aerospace: Jessop, Business Manager

Sandra Jessop has joined Lynnwood, Wash.-based Crane Aerospace as Midwest regional business manager. She is based in Wichita, Kan. Prior to joining Crane, Jessop was an enterprise auditor for Boeing world headquarters. She also has held engineering positions at Boeing and started her engineering career at Cessna Aircraft. Sonetics Corp.: Hoffmann, Manager

Portland, Ore.-based Sonetics Corp., a manufacturer of headsets and intercoms for the general aviation and firefighting markets, recently named Christopher Hoffmann engineering and new product development manager. He will be in charge of developing communications products for the company’s Flightcom and Firecom divisions. Hoffmann formerly was employed at EPS and OregonLabs. BAE Systems: Iannone, JSF Business Mngr.

Jim Iannone, manager of business management for BAE Systems’ Leveraged Technology Group, has been appointed Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) director of business management for the company’s Air Systems unit in Warton, England. His job is to "track the financial progress, baseline planning and bidding for engineering change proposals for the JSF program," according to a BAE Systems publication. Iannone formerly was director of business management for BAE Information & Electronic Warfare Systems. Avionics Magazine: New Officials

Avionics Magazine recently announced a promotion and an addition to its sales staff. Doug Mailat, the magazine’s national sales director has been promoted to associate publisher, and Joe Milroy has come on board as district manager in charge of sales in the eastern United States and Canada. Mailat began his career at Phillips Business Information (now PBI Media) as regional sales manager in western North America for Avionics Magazine and its sister publication, Aviation Maintenance. He works with the Airline Avionics Institute board of directors and with ARINC Industry Activities on the Aviation Maintenance Conference (AMC), Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC) and the Flight Simulator Engineering Maintenance Conference (FSEMC). He recently was director of the AMC and AEEC golf tournaments. A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Mailat was assistant general manager and national accounts coordinator with a division of Adams Outdoor Advertising.
Milroy gained advertising sales experience with McGraw-Hill’s Electronics Magazine and Data Communications Magazine. He worked with Fairchild’s Electronic News and Advanstars’s telecom publication, America’s Network Magazine.
