ITT Industries: Chubik, VP and Controller

ITT Industries recently promoted Mark Chubik to vice president and controller of its Avionics Division. A 15-year veteran at the company, he formerly was the Value Base Six Sigma (VBSS) champion for ITT Industries’ Night Vision Division. Chubik replaces Frank Sweeney, who was named director of internal audit at ITT Industries’ headquarters in White Plains, N.Y. ITT’s Avionics Division is in Clifton, N.J. Visit www.itt.com.

ARINC: Belcher: CEO

The ARINC board of directors has named John Belcher chief executive officer (CEO), replacing James Pierce, who will continue as chairman. He joined ARINC in 1997 as chief operating officer. Belcher formerly was president and CEO of Hughes Aircraft of Canada Ltd. and a vice president of Hughes Aircraft Co. He has been on various boards of directors and served as chairman of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association. Visit www.arinc.com.

Wulfsberg Electronics: Evans: Product Manager

Bob Evans has left Honeywell, where he was manager of customer programs, to join Wulfsberg Electronics, a Chelton Group company. He is manager of the company’s Series III navigation/communication products. His previous experience also includes engineering and marketing positions at Sperry Flight Systems, King Radio and AlliedSignal. Wulfsberg is based in Prescott, Ariz. Visit www.wulfsberg.com.

Aircraft Electronics Association: King: Award Winner

Ed King Jr., founder of King Radio, received the Aircraft Electronics Association’s (AEA’s) Lifetime Achievement Award during the AEA convention and trade show, held recently in Palm Springs, Calif. Now retired, King began his career after graduating from Kansas State University. He launched a company, Communications Accessories Corp., which was sold to Collins in 1955. Four years later, he launched King Radio, developing radios for the personal aircraft market. The company started in a Kansas farmhouse and grew to employ 2,800 persons in an Olathe, Kan., facility before it was sold in 1985 to the Bendix division of AlliedSignal. Following the sale, King worked with family members to create King Estate Winery, Oregon’s largest winery, with 820 acres. Visit www.aea.net.

Aircraft Electronics Association: Malone, Member of the Year

AEA also has named Ken Malone, owner and president of Mayday Avionics, Grand Rapids, Mich., Member of the Year. He was selected by fellow AEA members. Malone worked for Bill Lear in Grand Rapids and for Northern Air Service. He has served on the AEA board since the early 1980s. Visit www.aea.net.
