ARINC Inc. has promoted Richard Green to director of airport systems and services for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He formerly was ARINC’s product director, airport systems. Park Air Systems: Økstad, Managing Director

Tor Magnus Økstad has been promoted to managing director of Park Air System’s Norway operations, based in Oslo. Since 1990, Økstad has been with Park Air’s Nova division, where he previously served as director. Thales Avionics Ltd.: Kahn, Chairman & Mng. Director

Paul Kahn has moved from Thales Acoustics, where he was managing director, to Thales Avionics Ltd., London, where he has been named chairman and managing director. Kahn succeeds Sean O’Malley, who retires after 35 years with the Thales group. Kahn joined the Thales group in 1995 as director of corporate development. CMC Electronics Cincinnati: Wimmers, Award Winner

James Wimmers, president and chief executive officer of CMC Electronics Cincinnati recently was named MSS fellow at the National Military Sensing Symposia. The selection of MSS fellows is based on contributions as engineers/scientists and leadership in a technical field. Jet Aviation: Trujillo, Maintenance Director

Jet Aviation has named Leticia (Letty) Trujillo director of maintenance for the company’s Dallas location. She reports to Stephen Joiner, Jet Aviation’s vice president and general manager in Dallas. Mid-Canada Mod Center: New Officials

The avionics sales, installation and integration firm, Mid-Canada Mod Center (MC2), recently filled two management positions. Luis Zermeno assumes the newly created service manager position. ISA: Donald, Honorary Chairman

The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) recently selected Graeme Donald, president and chief executive officer of UOP LLC, as the honorary chairman for the annual ISA conference and exhibition. He will be keynote speaker at the event, which will be held Oct. 21-24 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics: Cosentino, Dir.-JSF Int. Programs

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. has named Mike Cosentino as director of Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) international programs, a newly created position. Cosentino began his career at Lockheed Martin’s "Skunk Works" facility, where he worked on such programs as the U-2, SR-71, F-117 and YF-22. Most recently, he was the C-130J program manager. Shadin Co. Inc.: Promotions and New Officials

Shadin Co. Inc., St. Louis Park, Minn., recently announced the following promotions and newly hired personnel:

Barry LeBlanc has been named European sales director. He has been with the company for 11 years.

Eric Beck has been hired as East Coast sales representative. His experience includes that of Boeing 727 flight engineer.

Craig Shafer has been hired as Shadin’s West Coast sales representative. He, too, is a pilot and has eight years’ experience in general aviation.

Patrick Sommer, formerly of Strom Engineering, will head original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sales support.

And Tom Chapmen, formerly with Honeywell, has been named engine trend monitor sales manager.

Airline Avionics Institute: Volare Award Winners

At the 2002 Avionics Maintenance Conference (AMC), held in Houston in early April, the Airline Avionics Institute (AAI) announced the winners of its annual Volare Awards and Chairman’s Special Award. Martin Storey, Delta Airlines, and Jeffery Kimball, Boeing Commercial Avionics Systems, each won a Volare Award, and Lawrence Carpenter, ARINC Inc., received the AAI Chairman’s Special Award.

A 24-year veteran with Delta, Storey has held the positions of avionics mechanic, foreman, component group leader and technical analyst in component maintenance. He has been a member of several ARINC committees. Storey was the AMC chairman in 1998 and 1999, and currently is the conference vice chairman. He also chairs TG 111 (future concepts of maintenance).

Kimball launched his avionics maintenance career in the U.S. Air Force and then joined Continental Airlines as an avionics technician. He began his employment with Boeing Commercial Avionics Systems in 1985 as a field support representative-automatic test systems. He currently is the company’s product support manager.

Carpenter was honored for his AMC leadership. He joined ARINC in 1982 as the conference’s executive secretary, and in 1994, was instrumental in launching the AMC’s sister organization, the Flight Simulator Engineering and Maintenance Conference (FSEMC). Carpenter began his career with the Bendix Corp. and then joined TWA to work on mechanical instruments. He subsequently went to Continental Airlines to work on telecommunications systems. In 1994 he received the AAI’s Pioneer Award for his development of the Standard Modular Avionics Repair and Test (SMART) system software package. Visit www.airlineavionics.org.
