Ball Aerospace: Crawford, Managing Director

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. appointed Walter Crawford as its new managing director of Global Communications and Video Solutions (GCVS), a business unit of the Commercial Products & Technologies group. Crawford comes to Ball Aerospace from Intergame. In his new post, he is responsible for the sales, marketing and engineering departments of GCVS, which produces airborne communications and video products. SVS Inc.: Van Allen, President/CEO
SVS Inc. has appointed Robert L. Van Allen as its president and chief executive officer (CEO). He replaces Paul Shirley, who has served as chairman of the board, president and CEO since SVS was founded. Van Allen co-founded the Albuquerque-based company with Shirley and Sherman Seltzer in January 1993. Van Allen served formerly as executive vice president and chief operating officer for the company. Matsushita Avionics Systems: Finch, VP Americas
Matsushita Avionics Systems Corp. has named Steve Finch vice president of the Americas region. He will be responsible for marketing, sales and service for customers in that region. In addition, he will take charge of MASC’s regional support center at Coppell, Texas–the site of the company’s newly-created Dallas Repair Shop. Finch’s experience includes positions as vice president of training and information services for United Airlines Service Co. and vice president of operations for Frontier Airlines.

Mid-Continent Instruments: Winter, President
J. Todd Winter has been promoted to president of Mid-Continent Instruments. He had served as vice president since 1981. Winter replaces John W. Winter, who will continue to serve the company as its chief technical officer. Phone 800-821-1212 or 316-630-0101 for further information.

BAE Systems: Senior Appointments
BAE Systems announced that Allan Cook, group managing director of avionics, has replaced Steve Mogford as group managing director for programs and also has assumed responsibility of the Eurofighter program. This move follows Mogford’s promotion to chief operating officer for the programs and customer support and solutions divisions. Chris Geoghegan has returned to BAE Systems as group managing director for avionics after serving for the last two years as special advisor to the president of Airbus Industrie. Telephonics Corp.: Onorato, IEEE Award Winner
Telephonics Corp. announced that Jim Onorato, principal engineering specialist with the Command Systems Division, has received an IEEE Region 1 award for new technical concepts in electrical engineering. Onorato’s technical contributions have been to the U.S. Navy’s AN/APS-147 multimode radar, commercial APS-143(V) maritime surveillance radar, U.S. Customs’ C3I drug interdiction program and Vessel Traffic Systems. First Flight Society: Peters, President
