Ganase, President

Aviation Communication and Surveillance Systems (ACSS), a joint venture between L-3 Communications and Thales, has named Kris Ganase as its president. Curley, Sales Manager

Montreal Jet Center, a new company specializing in business jet interior refurbishments, avionics upgrades, modifications and maintenance, has designated Chris Curley as sales manager for aircraft services. He is based in New Jersey and will cover the eastern United States. A flight instructor with an instrument rating, Curley brings 15 years of business aircraft sales experience to the job. Terpstra Retires

Jim Terpstra, senior vice president of Jeppesen, has retired after 36 years with the company. Leaving a position as a music teacher, Terpstra came to Jeppesen in 1968 as a member of the courseware development group, where he wrote pilot training programs. He rose through the ranks in the company until he was promoted to senior vice president of aviation affairs. Terpstra will return to Jeppesen in late summer 2004 as an executive consultant. The Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) has named Bernie Smith its new chairman. Smith is the chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director of Airservices Australia. Serving as CANSO chairman for one year, Smith succeeds Dieter Kaden, CEO of Germany's air navigation provider, DFS GmbH. Kowalewski, CEO

Bernd Kowalewski recently was appointed president and chief executive officer (CEO) of BizJet International in Tulsa, Okla. Kowalewski is a 17-year employee of Lufthansa Technik and has served on the board of directors at BizJet International since Lufthansa Technik acquired the service center in 2000. Myers, Director of Marketing

The airborne telecommunications company, AirCell, recently announced that Tom Myers has been appointed as director of marketing. Myers will be in charge of AirCell marketing as well as corporate communications, advertising and media relations. New Officials

Robert E. Brown will take over as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of simulator manufacturer CAE, effective Aug. 12. Brown, who is currently chairman of Air Canada, will succeed Derek H. Burney, who will serve as vice chairman until he formally retires in October. Brown was CEO of Bombardier.

CAE also has named Sebastian Caire as general manager and Juan Fernandez as head of training for its joint venture with Iberia Airlines, which comprises CAE's original facility in Alcala, Spain, and the former Iberia training center in the Madrid Barajas airport. Visit www.cae.com.

Beaulieu, Mngr., Legislative Affairs

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) announced that Stephen Beaulieu has joined the organization as manager of legislative affairs. He comes from the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Aviation, where he was a legislative staff assistant. Beaulieu also worked at US Airways as an inventory management analyst.
