38999 Series Connector

ITT Interconnect Solutions has developed a 38999 connector for both RF and signal contacts. Designated the 38999 Series, the connector supports up to 128 contacts, features EMI shielding and meets MIL-DTL-38999 series I, II and III standards, according to the company. The connector is housed in a lightweight, low profile package. Features include blind mate capability, rear release snap-in crimp contacts and a choice of bayonet or threaded coupling. Additionally, the connector is scoop-proof and employs a corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy shell with cadmium over nickel plating. It is capable of withstanding 500 hours of salt spray exposure, ITT said. Visit www.ittcannon.com.

‘PosiBand’ Contact

Positronic Industries, of Springfield, Mo., introduced the "PosiBand" closed entry contact. The contact overcomes weaknesses associated with the "split tine" and sleeve approach, and separates the mechanical and electrical function of the contact system. The base contact provides a closed entry feature and enhanced electrical stability, Positronic said. Contact resistance is 3 milliohms for size 20 contacts and 4 milliohms for size 22 contacts. Visit www.connectpositronic.com.

Flight Data Unit

Flight Data Systems, based in Victoria, Australia, released its Hand-Held Multi Purpose Interface unit for solid-state flight data recorders (FDR). The interface unit connects directly to multiple types of FDRs and supports multiple memory devices for downloading flight data on various media, the company said. The unit also has internal memory available for storing data. Visit www.flightdata.com.au.

Passenger Information

ARINC, based in Annapolis, Md., added the electronic Advance Passenger Information System (eAPIS) filing to its portfolio of ARINC DirectSM flight services for corporate aircraft. The service is available for flights arriving or departing the United States and U.S. territories. ARINC Direct subscribers can access the service at www.arincdirect.com. Visit www.arinc.com.

Traffic Advisory System

Avidyne Corp. introduced its TAS600A Series ADS-B-capable Traffic Advisory System. The Avidyne Entegra Traffic Series includes three models of dual-antenna systems — the TAS600, TAS610 and TAS620 – – which actively interrogate other transponder-equipped aircraft and compute range, bearing and closure rate in order to provide a display of nearby traffic. Visit www.avidyne.com.

Media Server

Flight Display Systems, of Alpharetta, Ga., introduced the Jet JukeBox, a high-definition media server that allows passengers to enjoy a digital library of DVDs, CDs and images. The system has FAA PMA approval. Visit www.flightdisplay.com.

EFB Software

Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT), based in Dublin, Ireland, introduced a carbon emission monitoring application for its Flightman Electronic Flight Bag software suite. AMT said the application will collect, record and analyze relevant levels of carbon emissions and usage data. The information will be available for analysis and can be integrated with an airline’s ground-based system. Visit www.flightman.com.
