[Avionics Today April 24, 2014] The Government of Canada is investing $4.4 million in the latest research and development program from Avcorp Industries, according to a statement released by Industry Canada.
Avcorp will use the investment, received through the Strategic Aerospace and Defense Initiative (SADI), to develop new technologies in metal bonding and aircraft parts manufacturing. New aircraft components, including structural panels, rudders and wing parts will undergo final assembly and testing in Canada.
"Canada's aerospace industry directly employs 73,000 people in high-skilled jobs and contributes more than $12 billion to the economy. By investing in Avcorp's advanced manufacturing project, we are helping to ensure that our aerospace industry remains a world leader," said James Moore, of Canada’s minister of industry.
