Quovadis to Lead Canary Island PBN Flight Trials

Airbus ProSky subsidiary Quovadis will lead a series of Performance Based Navigation (PBN) flight trials at Lanzarote and La Palma airports in the Canary Islands, called the “CO2 and Noise Approach Reduction for International Aviation Sustainability” (CANARIAS) project.

The CANARIAS flight trials are part of the upcoming SESAR Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU), under the Atlantic Interoperability Initiative (AIRE) to demonstrate how PBN and other next-generation flight procedures can improve air traffic management (ATM) in European airspace.

“Performance based approach is a key element to support the decongestion of the busy terminal areas and increase the Air Traffic Management fuel efficiency in Europe,” said Don-Jacques Ould-Ferhat, COO of Quovadis.

Quovadis will launch the flight trials during the first half of 2013.
